I'm going to look at kittens this weekend, and more than likely I will be bringing one home!

Now accepting suggestions for kitty names!

Kitten

I was supposed to look at a litter of kittens either yesterday or today, but my sister couldn't get ahold of the woman who has them, but will keep trying.

I know Thaco was just put down recently, but the decision was made to get another cat before he died, mainly because I need an ESA, but also because we want to. This time though, we want a kitten to raise.

The kittens in the aforementioned litter are supposed to be ready to leave their mother by Halloween - I'm just hoping I can pick one out before then!

Yesterday at shortly before noon, I took my cat to the vet to be put to sleep. It was practically instant, he was so far gone...just skin stretched over a skeleton, the doc said. After the injection, he listened for a heartbeat, but he was already gone. I hope my kitty has a safe journey to the other side. I'll see him again some day.

Today, much like yesterday, I had the urge to clean, and to start with the kitchen. Well, I did that today - rearranged it a little too, dumped the litter from both boxes as well as the food that had been in his bowl. Swept, and now all that's left to do is mop.

Eventually, I'll be rearranging my living room too. When I clean out the standing cabinet that I have, it will go into the kitchen to be used as a pantry.

I really do feel kind of lost and numb still. I just don't know what to do with myself.

Griping

I have two Facebook accounts. One is for good friends, the other is for everyone else (mainly family). this post concerns the second account (mainly family). I never get any reaction from anyone when I post anything - yet I react to (and generally am expected to react to) some of their posts (the personal ones, not the shared posts). So when I pour my heart out over a legit concern and get nothing back it really bothers me. Sharing what I posted here because I feel like it:

My cat was improving. For a short time he was eating again. Now, he won't really eat. He'll lick the gravy off of wet food, and eat an occasional treat, and drink water.

He's also not coming out when called or treat bag shaken. He has to be pulled out of hiding, though it's unclear as to whether this is due to him needing to have medicine every day, if he's sick, or some combination therein.

Additionally. I managed to get him downstairs today (had to drag him out from under a bed), carried him downstairs (he's so light!), and set him on the table. Gave him treats, then set some wet food in front of him.

He did his usual, and when he jumped down, he immediately laid down and meowed. When he did get up to use teh litterbox, he was favoring a leg. :(

I don't know what to do. I'm so scared my cat is going to die on me, even though I know euthanasia was recommended for him due to his FIV and possible kidney disease.

I had my last cat for 14 years with no problems, so why do I now have a pet with all the problems. This sucks :(

Cat

I posted a last week about this, but I wanted to go into more detail today.

My cat was been sick, with goopy eyes. Figured it was probably just an eye cold or something. Take him into the vet on Thursday (Sept. 28th), and they do blood work. Well, it turns out he has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus...or cat HIV).

There's no cure, and they recommend putting him to sleep. His weight also went down from 11lbs (when we first got him) to 7lbs. I took him home, with some meds to help his current issues (he also was not eating or purring).

On Sept. 30th he purred a little bit, and ate for the first time (that we noticed) in a week. He wasn't been hiding quite as much (he comes out to where people are for short spurts). Sadly though, I noticed a small patch of fur missing, and am unsure why or how it is missing, save maybe his illness.

Since then, he's been eating and drinking normally as far as I've been able to tell, going potty like she should and the eye goop is gone, though I still have to give him meds for a while. He's purred one more time, and has spent more time with the family, though he's in hiding today, possibly to hide from me, the 'evil medicine lady'.

In any event, I just wanted to rant a little, and get it all out there. If anyone is interested in staying updated, let me know.

A while back, I was watching Watchmojo.com's Top 10 Frontwomen In Hard Rock And Heavy Metal because it showed up under recommendations. I made a list of bands that sounded interesting, based on the clips they showed, plus a japanese band (not in the video) I've been meaning to check out.

That was a while ago. Today I went to Wikipedia and made a list of their studio albums, then cross checked that list against what Spotify had available. Here is that list )

The asterisk denotes albums that aren't available on Spotify. Presently I'm gradually going through the albums and adding songs I like to playlists. Beyond that, not much going on at present - just waiting for coffee to finish before I have another cup (am out of soda, and this will be my third cup since 6am).

Made arrangements on Tuesday to roleplay with some friends of ours who live a state away (they're the only people we have to roleplay with) to roleplay today at 4.

Here's a timeline of events:

4 o'clock rolls around.
4:15 we get sent a link to a news article.
4:20 get told that the person who sent the link just walked in the door.
4:21 we ask them to let us know when they are ready.
4:23 they say it'll be a couple minutes.
4:40 we are sent a link for something asinine.
4:44 my husband sends a link.
4:48 there is still no response for them, so my husband says 'fuck it, I give up' and signs off.
4:51 we finally get a response of 'sorry that took so long'

My husband problem is that they didn't say 'sorry this is taking longer than we thought' at all, yet still apparently were able to send that asinine, stupid ass link. It annoyed me too. Then, they didn't get that we were upset! Ugh.

So we'll probably try again in the future, because, like said, they're the only people we've got to play with, apart from each other.

Supposed to raid with my guild tonight. We're going to try Nighthold. No idea what difficulty, but we'll see what happens. It's supposed to start in 20 minutes. hopefully I can finish up dinner (to be eaten later) before then.

Re-Reads

Recently started re-reading the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Last read there were only 6 books, but now there are 10. I've finished 7 of the books. Trying to decide if, after I finish this series, I should start in on the companion Alpha and Omega series, or just re-read Dresden Files (I'm a couple books behind on that series as well).

Writing Bug

I want to write, but as usual, I don't know what to write about. I can't think of anything rp related to write, and anything beyond that is beyond me, because lately I've been feeling like my creativity is sorely lacking.
synderryn: (Default)
A little while ago, I tried watching Netflix's "Anne With An E". I liked it okay for a bit...but then it went too far off track from the books for me.

Spoilers )

So while I liked the actors, I think it delved too far off plot for me. But then, I only got in two episodes out of the seven available. Maybe some of you will like it better.

Ugh

Today has not been a great day. I've spent the majority of it depressed. Since my kids have gotten home, I've been yo-yo-ing between depression and irritability. Just ugh. Worst day in a while.

My Mother's Day is starting out like shit.

Got woken up early this morning to take care of cat pee that missed the litter box, cat sick on the carpet, and ants in the cat's food bowl. Then I got to make breakfast for my husband. Yipee. Tried going back to bed, but the phone rang - it was my husband's Gma, wishing me a Happy Mother's Day and to tell us to call his mom, who has been in the hospital for a couple weeks now.

Try to go back to sleep, with hubby who is only just going to bed for the night at this point, but can't sleep because the boys are playing video games and being very loud. So I take games away for now from them, and my eight year old has a meltdown about it. Tell him to stop crying and I get yelled at about it.

Tried to sit down and Watch "Anne With An E" on Netflix, which I started the other day, only to get out volumed by the boys' tablets playing youtube. So now I'm just sitting here, kind of pissed off, with nothing to do. I have no interest in playing Sims right now. Even if I wanted to play WoW, I have to check on the eggs I'm boiling for egg salad periodically. I don't even want to write. So what's left?

Just a ball of pissed off feelings, that's what.

Ramble On

For those of you who don't know, I suffer from being bi-polar. Most of the time, I am depressed. When I can't tell the difference between boredom or depression, I try to think if anything I have that I can do sounds interesting - often times, nothing sounds remotely interesting.

I have long since stopped watching most anything. Once in a while, something will catch my attention and I'll watch it with my husband, but that's about it. Most recent examples I can cite is the Lethal Weapon TV series and I've tried the first two episodes of American Gods with him (still not sure what to think about that one).

For the last little while, one thing that I have been wanting to do is write, but a lot of times I can't think of anything to write. More specifically, I want to write things that pertain to my rp characters, and a lot of times I just haven't played recently enough to justify it, or just plain don't have any ideas.

Well, I'm kind of in the same boat now. I want to write. I want to write something rp related. I have a regular game I do with my husband, but I am not sure what to write as far as that is concerned. I have a list of things I could try and write about for the character I play in a game I run, but I have a hard time finding his voice, likely because he's largely been a GM mouthpiece so far.

So, per usual, I don't know what to do and just sit here and press refresh on my rss feed site or facebook or here. Yes, I could play WoW or Sims 4, but I just don't want to.

Cat Drama

So update on the cat...

The local Humane Society didn't want to give me a cat, because I had to shelter one ten years ago, and because I didn't have a vet listed. How in the hell am I supposed to have a vet listed when I don't even have a pet? Reasoning with them didn't work, and I was distraught. My husband called back and attempted to reason with them, but they rushed him off the phone.

A very good friend of mine called her local Humane Society (she's in Westland, MI while I'm in Fremont, OH (about 1hr 45min apart)) and learned that I could leave same day with a pet. After triple checking this, we made last minute plans to head up for Easter (my in-laws live up that way anyway), and went to the Humane Society yesterday and got a cat!

His name at the shelter was Polo, but we're looking to fix that. We ran through over 30 names and eliminated a lot. Here's what we're looking at right now:

Dusty
Cisco
Tesla
Thaco (an old AD&D term)
Bacon
Murdoch (contributed by my Thomas the Train loving 8 year old)
Boco (contributed by my Thomas the Train loving 8 year old)

Yes, he has cauliflower ear, but is otherwise healthy :)

STILL nothing!

It's been 5 or 6 days now. I've called TWICE and have been told BOTH times someone would call me back and it has yet to happen.

Grrr....
synderryn: (Default)
Still nothing from the Humane Society. I put in an application last Thursday afternoon. I was told that the lady that reviews them would be in the following day at 1pm, and that it could take 3-5 days before I hear anything back.

Going by days of operation, they are open 1pm-5pm Mon-Fri, and Sat 1pm-4pm. If the days I have to wait include Saturday, then I've been waiting four days if you count today. Otherwise, it's three. The longer it takes, the more anxious I get that I won't be approved.

I don't understand why there's an approval process in the first place. They want all their cats to have homes, why not just let people adopt like they want?
